On safari in the Addo Elephant National Park

Just an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth is the Addo Elephant National Park. It’s the third largest of South Africa’s 19 national parks and today it is home to over 600 elephants.

We had an unbelievable day seeing over a hundred elephants, buffalo, zebra, kudu, hartebeest, warthog and the secretary bird. It was a hot day and herds of elephants of all ages gathered around the watering hole drinking, playing, swimming and completely submerging themselves! As my local park growing up I’ve been lucky enough to visit many times, but I’ve never seen so many elephants gathered together.

Friends from the US and the UK were visiting us in South Africa and it was really fun to take them around. The animals certainly came out to say hi!

It was a really fun day out with my mom, sister and friends out from the US and the UK
